Surfing in Imsouane, Morocco

Imsouane is a small fishing village between Agadir and Essaouira. Its bay has one of the longest waves in Morocco. Life here is simple: surf, eat, rest and go again.

Two spots, not one

The Bay is long, smooth and beginner friendly. Cathedral is shorter and more powerful. It is a better choice for experienced surfers when The Bay is small.

When to come

September to April brings the most consistent waves. Summer is warmer and quieter, with smaller waves that are perfect for beginners.

Who it's for

Imsouane works for first timers and surfers who want longer rides. The wave is friendly, fun and gives you time to improve.

When is the best time to surf in Imsouane?
Come from September to April for the most consistent waves. From May to August, the water is warmer and the waves are smaller. It is a great time to learn.
Do I need any experience to book a lesson?
No. We start on the beach, then practise in easy whitewater over sand.
How much does a surf trip to Imsouane cost?
A simple room costs around €20 to €45 per night. Meals are usually €5 to €15. Lessons start at €25.
Is it safe to surf in the bay?
The inside of The Bay is calm and breaks over sand. Your coach chooses the best time for the tide, waves and your level.
What should I bring?
Bring swimwear, a towel, water and sunscreen. We provide the board and wetsuit. Bring a warm top in winter.
What if there are no waves that day?
We move your lesson to a better time or another day. We always check the conditions before the session.
How do I book?
Send us your dates and level on WhatsApp. We confirm your time and you pay on the day.

Getting there

Where is Imsouane?

  • From AgadirAround 2 hours by road. Take a taxi, travel through Tamri or ask us about a private transfer.
  • From Taghazout or TamraghtFollow the coast north through Tamri towards Imsouane. Ask us if you need help arranging the trip.
  • From MarrakechAround 4 hours by road. You can also stop in Essaouira on the way.
  • From EssaouiraAround 1 hour 30 minutes along the coast.
